IRL Streaming Backpack

The backpack itself is a Manfrotto model, a company known for professional photo and video accessories. It’s lightweight, and the padded shoulder straps provide comfortable wear even during extended use. The exterior mesh ensures excellent airflow and keeps the video streaming encoder (which receives the camera signal and transmits it to the internet) cool. Thanks to its high-quality construction, the backpack is built to last.

The core component of the streaming backpack is a mobile video streaming encoder. It captures the camera signal and transmits it to the internet. The built-in battery lasts up to 2 hours; with the second battery included in the backpack, up to 12 hours of runtime is possible. For internet connectivity, Ethernet, two USB ports for LTE dongles, and Wi-Fi are available. Via cloud bonding, multiple networks can be used simultaneously if needed.

Two LTE modems are already included in the package for internet connectivity. Up to four modems can be used simultaneously in total. Using more than one connection, however, requires an additional cloud bonding service. Depending on signal quality, two modems are sufficient in most cases, and a local Wi-Fi network can easily be used as a third connection if needed.

The high-quality action camera delivers excellent image and audio quality. Thanks to its powerful image stabilization, it’s especially well-suited for dynamic, high-motion scenarios. Alternatively, other cameras can be connected as long as they output video via HDMI to the encoder. The included camera can be used hands-free via a backpack-mounted bracket. For manual control, a tripod is also included that can be held in hand, stood up, or attached to objects using its flexible legs.

The high power demand is met by a high-performance battery. It reliably supplies the video streaming encoder, the camera, and the modems with power, enabling smooth operation for several hours. The IRL Backpack is specifically designed for long mobile streams and offers a battery life of up to 12 hours without external power. For streams longer than 12 hours, the backpack can also be connected to a power outlet.
