Streaming to YouTube and Facebook at the same time is a great way to reach a larger audience. If you plan on streaming on multiple platforms simultaneously there are different ways to achieve it. We explain the easiest and best way to do it in Streaming Software or with any RTMP compatible streaming hardware or software.
How to stream to YouTube and Facebook simultaneously
If you use a software like Streaming Software or mainstream streaming hardware you can only set one destination. While many streaming solutions offer the ability to directly choose one of the popular streaming platforms, you can mostly also choose to set a custom RTMP destination. If you have the option to set a custom RTMP destination, you can use our multi streaming service to forward your stream to up to 10 destinations or platforms including YouTube and Facebook.
Instead of streaming to the final platform you stream to our service and we forward the stream to the destinations you set in our control panel. As soon as you start streaming to our service using Streaming Software or any other RTMP-compatible solution we will forward the incoming stream to the configured destinations.
Why you should stream on YouTube and Facebook at the same time
No matter what your content is, if you stream on a public platform you most likely want to reach as many people as you can. Using multiple platforms to extend your audience is a great way to do it. Especially YouTube and Facebook are a great combination as the platforms work quite differently. YouTube is all about video, either on demand or live. Facebook on the other hand is a real social network that focuses on connecting with your real-life friends and family.
This means that the interaction with your content will differ drastically between the platforms. On YouTube it is easier to generate an audience that is passionate about the same topic. If YouTube notices that you talk about a certain topic and people in the field are interested in your content it will recommend your content to other people in the same field.
On Facebook on the other hand it is more about sharing within a social network. When people like your content it is automatically more visible to people connected to the person who interacted with your content. Although it does not stop here as Facebook is very good at identifying people’s interests it is a different approach that leads to different results.
If you want to benefit from these very different platforms you should stream on both.
The challenge of streaming on multiple platforms simultaneously
Due to online services like our multi streaming it is technically very easy to stream to two or more platforms. The real challenge is managing these separate streams. Depending on the size of your audience this can become a very complex task. Reading and moderating the chat is the bare minimum. Answering chat questions directly in the chat or forwarding these to the protagonist to answer them in the stream is what differentiates a live stream from video on demand or linear TV and is often expected from the audience.
Using OBS Studio to stream to YouTube and Facebook at the same time
If you already use OBS Studio to stream to your preferred platform, you can easily stream to YouTube and Facebook at the same time. As OBS Studio by itself is not able to stream to multiple platforms, you can use our multi streaming service to do so. We will forward your stream to up to 10 different destinations without reducing the quality.
